Midterm Project : Illustration from song

Reference : My Immortal from Evanescence

Although the title of lyric name "immortal" but the story is despite. The concept about a couple that tell the guy is pass away and leave his beloved girl behind. The girl tell her feeling she can not live alone happily without her boyfriend.

I intend to paint abstract style by use monotone of blue  in order to present the feeling of sad, sorrow and desperation of couple life. In the dark blue area, there are some detail of line and shape like as tree as the world of afterlife. And there is a white chain similar like the step for to present as the chain of feeling of this couple still connect together.

Fashion illustration

From last topic that I said, I use some technique like water color to draw the model as David Downtown have to be. However I focus the concept about fashion trend of the present, street fashion and vintage style. Because I wan to present the model in modern looking and have sweet mood in the same time.

Illustration's proposal

If I could choose the career what I decide to do. I intend to choose fashion illustration for to be my project, because of I have founded that fashion illustration is like the portrait to present the main subject in the frame, but fashion illustration have outstanding points in focus the model and other accessories on their body like as clothes, hat or jewelys, including another prop-up that support composition in fashion work. If you noticed that field try to create fashion illustration by traditional technique like as painting, charcoal drawing or use graphic style in modern time. 

The most famous fashion illustrator who give me inspiration to going to create this project is David Downtown, the English illustrator that create many fabulous art works in his period. He always use watercolour and ink painting technique by emphasized some part of model or clothes example use yellow colour is the main colour in one frame, meanwhile he use white skin's model make outstanding amond the yellow.

After I watched his fashion gallery, I noticed that sometime some his works are minimalism by present a few part of model and use two or three colour like this.

From Downtown's interview post, he try to avoid using computer as possible. it sounds he prefer to use traditional style on the paper or work with the layout that you can see his work on the magazines ( such as VOUGUE, etc.). In addition, he give the most importance in the principle of painting and graphic design like as line, color volume, or proportion and so on.
